An intimate dance salon honoring artistic lineage through dance, live music, conversation, and community
I have studied with my guru, Sarmishtha Sarkar for almost 30 years. During her current U.S. tour, our conversations about preserving choreographies passed down from her guru through oral tradition—many never digitally documented—have inspired me to reflect on guru–shishya parampara: what it means to receive, honor, evolve, and pass on a living tradition.

Preservation takes many forms: movement, values, stories, ways of seeing, generosity, curiosity, and the courage to let traditions grow while remaining rooted in respect.

Join us for an intimate evening of movement, conversation, and music as we honor these living lineages and plant the first seeds of a new dance work inspired by these reflections.

Free • Limited seating
Please note: The venue is not wheelchair accessible. Routine incense use in space.
